The Dubai plate number ‘AA 13’ was sold for a massive Dhs4.42m at the 110th open auction held for distinctive vehicle number plates.

Plate number ‘U 70’ witnessed the second highest winning bid, raking in Dhs3m, while Plate ‘Z 1000’ roped in Dhs2.21m, and Plate ‘V 99999’ fetched Dhs1.26m.

The auction was conducted by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) at Grand Hyatt Dubai Hotel on September 17. Proceeds from the auction totalled Dhs37.328m.

RTA offered 90 plates for bidding in the auction, comprising two, three, four and five-digits, bearing (AA-J-K-L-M-N-O-P-Q-R-S-T-U-V-W-X-Y-Z) codes.

RTA seeks to provide a transparent platform by offering distinctive number plates at open or online auctions, official news agency WAM reported.

In 2020, number plate V 12, auctioned for a whopping Dhs7m.
