Dubai fines 5 businesses, warns 3 for flouting Covid protocols

The violating establishments were from Nadd Al Hammar, Port Seed and Naif

As many as five commercial establishments were penalised and three warned for non-conformance to Covid-19 guidelines.

The fines were slapped due to employees’ lack of commitment to wearing masks.

The violating establishments were from Nadd Al Hammar, Port Seed and Naif, and were engaged in varied activities, including retail, air-conditioning installation, wholesale trading, textiles and fabrics.

The warnings were issued for not placing the physical distancing stickers, official news agency WAM reported.

These actions were a result of field visits and tours conducted by teams from the Commercial Compliance and Consumer Protection (CCCP) Sector in Dubai Economy, across open markets and various shopping centres within the emirate on September 29.

Overall, 680 shops and commercial establishments were found compliant with the precautionary measures.

Dubai Economy called on everyone to cooperate and contribute to keeping the emirate’s economy moving forward despite of the challenges caused by the pandemic.

Any non-compliance reported either by consumers and the public or unearthed during inspections will be treated with a stern hand, Dubai Economy confirmed.

Reports can be filed through the Dubai Consumer app or website or by calling 600545555.

Earlier this week, 10 commercial establishments were fined and 11 warned in the wake of 664 visits conducted across Dubai on September 28.
