Apple’s new smartphone, the iPhone 7, will be available for sale at the official Apple store in Dubai’s Mall of Emirates on September 17, it has said.

Customers will be able to buy the phone and the recently unveiled Apple Watch Series 2, starting from 8.00am on Saturday.

This is the first year that Apple will launch the iPhone in Dubai at the same time as the rest of the world, the company confirmed in a statement.

Apple launched the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus on September 7 with improved camera features and without a headphone port – in keeping with the leaked rumours.

The new device is also claimed to have the “best battery life ever in an iPhone”, enhanced stereo speakers, and is supposedly the first “water and dust resistant” smartphone from Apple.

The devices will be available in silver, gold, rose gold and a new black finish in 32GB, 128GB and 256GB models starting from Dhs2,599 (for the iPhone 7) and Dhs3,099 (for the iPhone 7 Plus).

Another new colour – the jet black finish – will be offered exclusively on the 128GB (Dhs2,999 for the 7 and Dhs3,499 for the 7 Plus) and 256GB (Dhs3,399 for the 7 and Dhs3,899 for the 7 Plus) models on Apple.com, Apple stores, authorised resellers and select carriers.

Apple opened its first stores in the Middle East last year, with two stores launched simultaneously in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

In June, two new Apple stores were also opened at the Dubai Duty Free in Dubai International Airport, representing the largest-ever Apple outlets in travel retail.
