Dubai airport sees highest monthly passenger traffic numbers in August

The number of passengers using the airport rose 1.7 per cent to 8.37 million

Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest for international travellers, recorded its highest monthly passenger traffic numbers in August.

The number of passengers using the airport rose 1.7 per cent to 8.37 million compared to the same month a year earlier, operator Dubai Airports said in a statement.

The previous monthly record of 8.23 million passengers was set in August 2017.

Dubai airport, the hub for airlines Emirates and flydubai, has seen the rate of passenger traffic growth slow this year after 15 years of strong increases, although it had more than 8 million passengers in July and in August this year.

Cargo handled at the airport fell 2.3 per cent to 219,629. Another airport, Al Maktoum International, also handles Dubai’s air cargo.
