Drake & Scull Engineering Awarded Two Deals Worth Dhs259m

Drake & Scull Engineering (DSE) has been awarded two major contracts for the Jordanian mixed-use development, Saraya Aqaba Resort, worth Dhs259 million.

The contracts were awarded by a consortium consisting of UAE contractors Arabtec, CCC and Drake & Scull Construction.  The contracts include the provision of MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) services for four five-star hotels and 12 villas, in addition to the design, supply and installation work for a district cooling plant and a pumping station for the entire resort.

Both projects are under way and are expected to be completed by the end of next year.

“Drake & Scull Construction is currently undertaking the general contracting works at Saraya Aqaba which is progressing on schedule,” said Khaldoun Tabari, DSI PJSC CEO and vice chairman.

The Saraya Aqaba Resort is a man-made lagoon, which will add almost 1.5 km of beachfront to Aqaba city that lies on the Red Sea. The project encompasses hotels, retail outlets at Souk Saraya, restaurants, a beach club, a kids club, Wild Wadi Aqaba Water Park by Jumeirah Group, and a sports complex.

Drake & Scull Engineering is also currently executing the MEP scope of services at the St Regis Hotel, Amman worth Dhs160 million, which is scheduled for completion in 2016. Total project awards to-date reached approximately Dhs4 billion in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Algeria, Jordan, India Romania, Turkey and Egypt.
