Covid-19 update: UAE reports 3,966 cases; death toll scales to 819

The UAE has reported an additional 3,966 Covid-19 infections on January 28, recording its highest daily spike since the virus was first detected in the country early last year.

Newest figures mark a slight increase on yesterday’s daily count, which equalled 3,939.  The new cases were detected as a result of 168,781 tests conducted to screen for the virus.

Meanwhile, eight additional deaths were also confirmed, spiking the fatality toll to 819.

An additional 3,294 recoveries were also reported, raising the recovery count to 267,024.

The case count across the UAE now stands at 293,052.
