The UAE has recorded 1,083 new cases of the novel coronavirus on September 23, its highest daily increase in new infections since the contagion was first reported in the country.

The second highest daily increase in infections, equalling 1,007, was reported on September 12.

The new cases were detected as a consequence of 103,199 tests conducted by local health authorities to screen for the virus.

The health ministry also confirmed 970 recoveries as well as one Covid-19-related fatality.

The infection count across the Gulf nation now tallies 87,530, including 76,995 recoveries and 406 deaths.

Oman
The Ministry of Health has registered 628 new Covid-19 cases and 10 deaths across the sultanate.

The total cases in the country now stand at 95,339, including 86,482 recoveries and 875 deaths, Times of Oman reported.
