Covid-19: UAE reports highest daily count with 1,730 new cases

The UAE also reported four deaths due to Covid-19 complications

The UAE reported the highest ever number of daily new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, with the figure slightly higher than the previous day.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) announced that it had detected 1,730 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of recorded infections in the UAE to 207,822.

On Wednesday, the country had reported 1,723 new cases – the previous highest daily case count.

MoHAP said on Thursday that the new cases were detected after it conducted 146,721 additional Covid-19 tests over the past 24 hours.

The infected individuals are from various nationalities, are in a stable condition, and receiving the necessary care, it said.

The ministry also announced four deaths due to Covid-19 complications, with the death toll now at 669.

An additional 1,435 individuals fully recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 184,442.

In a statement, the ministry stressed its aim to continue expanding the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronavirus cases and carry out the necessary treatment.

Authorities in the country have also urged people to stay safe during New Year celebrations and adhere to all the precautionary measures.
