Covid-19: UAE reports 45 new cases, total tallies 198

A total of 41 individuals have recovered from the Covid-19 infection in the country

The UAE has announced that 45 new cases of the Covid-19 infection have been diagnosed in the country, local media outlets reported on Monday.

The total number of those infected in the country increases to 198.

The newly diagnosed cases are of varied nationalities, including the UK, Canada, India, Pakistan, Philippines, Iraq, Kuwait, Pakistan, Italy, Peru, Ethiopia, Lebanon, Somalia, Sudan and Egypt, among others.

One of the newly infected individuals arrived into the country and did not comply with quarantine instructions, thus transmitting the infection to 17 other people, an official confirmed.

The total number of those overcoming the Covid-19 infection in the country now tallies 41, including the three additional recoveries confirmed on Monday.

The UAE has urged people in the country to stay at home unless it’s absolutely necessary to get essential supplies, such as food and medicine, or to perform “essential jobs”.

The country has also decided to close all malls in the country within the next 48 hours as it seeks to combat the spread of Covid-19.

Additionally, the UAE has suspended all inbound and outbound passenger flights and the transit of airline passengers for two weeks, it was announced on Monday, March 23.
