Sharjah has updated Covid-19 precautionary measures to be followed at home gatherings and social events.

For social gatherings, the number of attendees has been restricted to 50 people at home and 100 people at halls.

Physical distancing will also have to be maintained at 4 metres, the Sharjah Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Team announced on Sunday.

Meanwhile, wedding tents will now be permitted with a maximum capacity of 200 people – provided that all precautionary measures are applied and social distancing is observed.

However, attendance at all the events is limited to people who are fully vaccinated, and who can present the green pass status on the Alhosn app, official news agency WAM reported.

Also, at social events, only half the capacity of each table will be permitted, with the duration of the event not exceeding four hours.

Authorities urged people with chronic diseases, the elderly and anyone who has any symptoms of illness not to attend the events.

Officials also urged the public to adhere to Covid-19 preventive measures, wear masks, maintain sterilisation, avoid hand and nose-shaking as well as hugs, and ensuring physical distancing between individuals.

The UAE reported 391 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday marking the first time in more than a year that the cases are less than 400.

The ministry also announced two deaths due to Covid complications, bringing the death toll in the country to 2,075.
