Bahrain has confirmed the death of a 65-year-old national who was an active case of the Covid-19 virus and was suffering from chronic health problems, the health ministry announced on Monday, March 16.

“The deceased female had returned from Iran via an indirect flight last month and had not entered the general population. The individual, upon arrival to Bahrain, was placed in isolation and received extensive 24-hour treatment from a specialised medical team,” a statement on the ministry’s website read.

The ministry confirmed that excluding one case, all other active coronavirus cases remain stable and that all patients were receiving treatment from a medical team following guidelines provided by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The Ministry of Health expressed its condolences to the individual’s family.
