Coronavirus update: Bahrain confirms 47 cases, 1977 people tested

All patients that tested positive in Bahrain have been transferred to an isolation centre for quarantine and treatment purposes

Bahrain has registered a total of 47 cases of the coronavirus infection, including six new ones, including five Bahraini nationals and one Saudi national.

The latest infected individuals flew into the kingdom via indirect flights from Iran, Bahrain News Agency reported.

As part of the measures taken to try and halt the spread of the virus, a total of 1,977 individuals returning from Iran and other Covid-19 affected countries were tested, of whom 47 tested positive and remain in a stable condition.

All patients that tested positive have been transferred to an isolation centre for quarantine and treatment purposes.

The Ministry of Health further confirmed that it is currently implementing a mobile testing process for the 2,292 individuals that returned from Iran before the country announced the pandemic.

The Ministry reiterated its instructions to all individuals returning from Iran to isolate themselves with immediate effect and schedule their medical examinations via the health ministry website or by contacting the hotline number 444.

Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia has announced that no confirmed cases of the coronavirus infection have been recorded in the country, Saudi Press Agency reported.

The Ministry of Health spokesperson confirmed that precautionary measures have been taken, which include equipping 25 hospitals to receive confirmed cases and providing 2,200 isolation beds for the same.

Other measures entailed conducting more than 6,000 medical examinations at the air and land ports, quarantining those suspected of being infected, as well as circulating manuals pertinent to the virus for health personnel across all health facilities.

Oman
Oman registered six cases of the coronavirus infection, with more than 1,300 people under institutional and domestic quarantine across the sultanate.

Kuwait
Kuwait’s Health Ministry confirmed that ten new coronavirus cases were registered in the country within the last 24 hours, taking the total number of those infected to 56 as of Monday, March 2, Kuwait News Agency reported.

UAE
The UAE has reported a total of 21 cases across the country so far.
