Phases two and three of Dubai Tram could soon be underway after Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority reportedly invited consultants to bid for the right to undertake the project’s feasibility study.

Quoted in local press, anonymous sources said the RTA has issued a tender for consultants to study the next phases of the tram which will take passengers to destinations including Burj Al Arab, Madinat Jumeirah and Mall of the Emirates, as well as along Jumeirah Beach Road to 2nd December Street.

Despite not yet being confirmed by the RTA, the authority’s Rail Agency CEO, Abdul Mohsen Ibrahim Younes, recently confirmed that the tram’s network work expand on the back of the success of phase one.

The emirate’s tram system, launched in November 2014 and featuring 11 trams along its 11 kilometres of track, was used by 1.3 million passengers in the first quarter of 2016.
