British Airways halts Muscat-London flights due to crew strike

Passengers are being offered alternative bookings via Qatar Airways

British Airways will not operate flights between Muscat and London until August 24 due to crew strikes.

Times of Oman cited a British Airways spokesperson as confirming the cancellation of the service due to industrial action by the Unite union.

Customers are being offered rebooked tickets with Qatar Airways via Doha during the cancellation period.

Alternatively they can receive a full refund.

Some passengers complained that they were only informed of the cancellation and rebooking option, which extends the flight time from just over seven hours to 11 hours, two days before their flight, according to the publication

Flights will resume on Thursday, August 24, with flight s departing Muscat at 8:05am and arriving in Muscat at 13:20pm.

BA launched direct flights between London and Muscat in October 2016 having previously flown to the Omani capital via Abu Dhabi.

The carrier flies between Muscat and London fives times a week with a Boeing 777.
