The Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an has announced that it is now accepting applications to its 2021 intake to the Grants programme.

The programme will provide vital funding support to not-for-profit organisations and social enterprises in Abu Dhabi that have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Selected businesses that meet the criteria will receive financial assistance of up to Dhs200,000.

To apply to the programme, not-for-profit organisations and social enterprises must hold a valid UAE licence and have been in operation for at least one year as well as provide a range of support across different social priorities that have been identified by the Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi, a statement said. Interested applicants must visit the Ma’an website.

The programme was created to help third sector organisations that are committed to addressing key social priorities. Recipients will be able to use the funds to create opportunities and invest in initiatives that will help improve the quality of life for residents.

The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in many social enterprises struggling to survive due to loss of revenues, impacting the lives of those residents that rely on these services. Among those affected are people of determination, as well as young people, senior citizens and families on low incomes.

Ma’an will work closely with the grant recipients to ensure they have the correct resources and knowledge to help drive measurable impact, making Abu Dhabi’s communities more cohesive and inclusive, the statement added.

Salama Al Ameemi, director general of Ma’an, said: “Through the Grants programme, we continue to affirm our commitment in assisting not-for-profit organisations, third sector entities and social enterprises by providing them with key financial support in order for them to develop and grow.

“The work they do for our society is truly inspiring and by giving them improved financial security so they can continue their work they can continue to address key social priorities, which helps us create a better tomorrow in Abu Dhabi.”
