The integrated transport centre (ITC) of the Department of Municipalities and Transport has said that taxis will begin accepting cashless fare payments through the PayBy starting May 16, 2021.

On arrival at a destination, passengers can scan a QR code provided by the driver. Upon scanning it, a password prompt will pop up, asking the passenger to confirm the transaction. A notification will indicate the completion of the payment.

PayBy allows users to add their credit cards to the application to pay, or users can top up their e-purses using bank cards online or through cash kiosks.

The app also offers limited-time payment vouchers to users , which customers can also use to pay their fare. Additionally, drivers will receive payment success incentives to promote the new cashless method.

PayBy has also recently partnered with TAMM, Abu Dhabi’s digital ecosystem, to facilitate contactless payment for all government services through its ‘Abu Dhabi Pay’ (AD Pay) platform.

AD Pay allows businesses and customers to access a variety of services and conduct government-related transactions online.
