UAE workers have a long weekend coming up in December, according to a circular issued by the government earlier this year.

The next public holiday in the UAE will be observed on Sunday, December 1 to mark Commemoration Day, the UAE’s Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) has confirmed.

Commemoration Day, previously known as Martyr’s Day, is held in remembrance of members of the armed forces killed in combat.

That will be followed by a two-day holiday for UAE National Day, which will be celebrated on Monday December 2 and Tuesday December 3 this year.

Under a new decree approved by the UAE Cabinet in March, public and private sector companies in the UAE will have the same number of national holidays this year and in 2020.

Isra wal Miraj and the Prophet’s birthday – which were previously observed as public holidays – have not been listed.
