Abu Dhabi reshuffles Executive Council, appoints new police chief

The Abu Dhabi Executive Council has been restructured under a new decree issued by UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in his capacity as the Ruler of Abu Dhabi, official news agency WAM reported on Monday.

The commander in chief of the Abu Dhabi Police major general Mohammed Al Rumaithi and the chairman of Abu Dhabi’s Department of Finance Riyad Abdulrahman Al Mubarak were among those who stepped down.

Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the chairperson of the council, thanked the outgoing members personally.

“We will continue to consolidate excellence and innovation in government and institutional work and optimise the investment of resources in advancing sustainable development and enhancing Abu Dhabi’s competitiveness and leadership in all sectors,” he said on Twitter.

The members of the council now include:

Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan – deputy chairman

Dr. Ahmed Mubarak Al Mazroui – secretary-general

Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan

Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, chief of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court

Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan

Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan

Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, chairman of Abu Dhabi Department of Transport

Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan

Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority

Jassim Mohammed Al Zaabi, chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Office

Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, chairman of the Department of Community Development

Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohamed Al Hamed, chairman of the Health Department

Sara Awad Issa Musallam, chairperson of the Department of Education and Knowledge

The President also issued a decree to appoint Jassim Mohammed Al Zaabi as the acting chairman of the Finance Department, the WAM report added.
