Saudi municipality head shot dead

The head of a governorate municipality in Saudi Arabia was reportedly found murdered in his office on Sunday.

Saudi Gazette reports that Ali Al-Zahrani was found “drowned in his own blood” by an Asian employee at Al-Qurah municipality.

The worker let out a shriek leading other staff to rush to the office where they saw the body.

The victim was found with a gunshot wound to the head and another to the neck.

The suspect, municipality employee Fahd Mansour Al-Qurashi, also had a gunshot wound in an apparent suicide shortly after the killing.

Employees at the building said Al-Zahrani had transferred Al-Qurashi from the mobility department to the maintenance department the previous Thursday.

He was said to be unhappy about the decision having previously been transferred from another department and had argued with Al-Zahrani as a result.

Baha Police spoksman colonel Saad Tirad was quoted as saying police received a call reporting the murder on Sunday morning.

Both bodies were transported to the local hospital morgue for further inspection, he said.
