Saudi Arabia’s Grains Organisation has announced a tender for the import of 1.5 million tonnes of barley.

The order for September and October will be distributed by 25 ships, including 18 on the Red Sea and seven in the Arabian Gulf, the organisation said in a statement to Saudi Press Agency.

It will cover local demand and preserve strategic stock, Saudi Grains Organisation governor Ahmed bin Abdul Aziz Al-Faris said.

The tender is the fifth of the year so far. Contracts for 4.5 million tonnes of barley have been award in 2018 to date.
