Review: Rivington Bar & Grill, Madinat Jumeirah

The London classic has branched out in Dubai with this, its second venue, bigger and bolder while keeping its rustic feel.

The Rivington Bar & Grill’s Madinat Jumeirah eatery marks Dubai’s second Rivington Grill and follows in the footsteps of its sister restaurant in Souk al Bahar – complete with modern British menu and unique location and view.

The 130-seater ground floor restaurant is classic Rivington grill with clean, white panelled walls and funky neon artworks. The menu remains resolutely British with classics such as fish and chips and rhubarb crumble and fish pie – sourced from artisan suppliers, practitioners and farmers.

The décor design is minimalist and simple, with white-clothed tables, reclaimed light fittings, canteen-style cutlery, and traditional dark wood bars.

The restaurant, which is laid out over three floors, makes the most of its position with three outdoor terraces, each complete with lounge-style furniture so customers can soak up the views as they enjoy dinner above the Madinat Jumeirah waterways.

The second floor bar brings a touch of London’s trendy Shoreditch, the birthplace of the Rivington Grill, to Dubai with its worn-in feel and UK beer choices. The new bar snack menu features miniature versions of some of the Rivington’s most popular à la carte dishes, including the haddock fishcake and the Rivington burger cooked by head chef Simon Conboy and his team.

Overall, the Madinat Jumeirah version of The Rivington Grill retains the same rustic essence as its Old Town counterpart, with a bigger, bolder, more party-going feel.
