The company has not specified how long the shutdown might last

Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Co (ORPIC) has shut down its 116,000 barrel per day Sohar oil refinery because of technical issues, the company said via its official Twitter account on Monday.

“Sohar Refinery is experiencing a total safe shutdown due to technical issues, this will result in irregular flaring,” ORPIC said without giving other details or specifying how long the shutdown might last.

It added that a maintenance team had started to resolve the issue.

An ORPIC official, contacted by telephone, said the shutdown might last up to a few days, but did not elaborate and declined to comment further.
