Oman Air has announced plans to begin daily flights between Muscat and Manchester from next month as it expands services to the UK.

The route, beginning May 1, will be operated by an A330-200 with flights departing the Omani capital at 2:00pm and arriving in Manchester at 7:05pm.

Oman Air also flies twice daily to London Heathrow.

“This is an incredibly exciting expansion in the UK, allowing our guests to enjoy the convenience of flying direct from Oman to the north of England and also the opportunity to connect with Oman Air’s global network,” said Oman Air CEO Paul Gregorowitsch.

Manchester has proven an attractive destination for Gulf carriers with Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways all offering direct flights to cater to expats and tourists flying to and from the 22 million population catchment area.

Oman received 150,000 visitors from the UK and Ireland in 2015 and has plans to more than double the number of international visitors it attracts over the next two decades.
