InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed a management agreement with Sunflower FZE for the launch of its first Hotel Indigo boutique brand property in the UAE.

This follows the announcement of the Hotel Indigo Riyadh King Abdullah Financial District, which is set to open in Saudi Arabia in 2016.

The 285-room property in Dubai’s Business Bay will include an infinity pool, views of the Burj Khalifa, fitness centre and meeting space.

InterContinental said the hotel would feature influences from the local area in its design, including a large interactive map of the Dubai Creek and window displays for art installations.

F&B venues will include an all-day-dining restaurant, delicatessen, speciality restaurant and bar as well as a rooftop pool terrace.

“This is our first foray into the hospitality space and IHG was a natural choice when we were looking for a reputable hotel company to partner with. We are very pleased to be developing the first Hotel Indigo in the UAE and look forward to developing a great and inspired hotel experience for our guests,” said Jitendra Bhatia, director, Sunflower FZE.

The property, which adds to IHG’s 18 hotels open in the UAE and 10 due to open in the next three to five years, is set for completion in 2017.

“As one of the fastest growing cosmopolitan cities in the world, it has always been our plan to bring Hotel Indigo to Dubai and we are honoured to have been selected to partner with Sunflower FZE to develop their first hospitality project – and under the Hotel Indigo brand,” said Pascal Gauvin, COO, India, Middle East & Africa, IHG.
