Official holiday dates for the public and private sectors in the UAE have yet to be announced

The first day of Eid Al Adha will fall on Thursday September 24, Saudi Arabia’s official moon sighting body said on Sunday.

This means September 23 will be Arafat day, when Muslim pilgrims stand on Mount Arafat on the outskirts of Makkah as part of their pilgrimage.

Public and private sector holidays for the UAE have yet to be announced. In previous years the private sector holiday began on Arafat day, suggesting Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be the holiday period this month.

It was previously believed that Eid Al Adha would fall on September 23, but the kingdom’s moon sighting committee will likely have the final say.
