Etihad Airways has opened a new arrivals lounge at Abu Dhabi International Airport, the airline’s first globally, in a bid to bolster its premium services for first and business class passengers.

Located immediately after customs, the new facility features 10 showers, each equipped with luxurious amenities, and passengers can have their suits and dresses steamed by housekeeping while they shower, and returned within 10 minutes. Gents can also freshen up with wet shaves by fully-qualified barbers.

A relaxation area contains comfortable seats, large screen TVs and range of local and international newspapers, magazines and books.

Café style refreshments are served throughout the day, including a breakfast offering in the morning, along with hot and cold beverages, canapés, snacks and sweets.

Guests looking for a quiet and productive space to prepare for meetings can make use of a business facility which contains a large-screen Apple computer, printer, and free broadband and wireless internet connections.

Peter Baumgartner, chief commercial officer of Etihad Airways, said the arrivals lounge will particularly appeal to guests on early morning arrivals, before hotel check-in hours.

Etihad Airways currently operates airport departure lounges in Dublin, Frankfurt, London Heathrow, Manchester, Paris, Sydney and Washington DC, and future locations include New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Melbourne and Milan.
