Eid Holidays Announced For UAE’s Government Sector

Government offices will be shut from Wednesday, August 7.

Government sector employees in the UAE will be off work from Wednesday, August 7, for the Eid Al Fitr holiday, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, the Government Human Resources department has announced.

Federal ministries and entities will go on holiday from Wednesday, the 29th day of Ramadan, until the 3rd of Shawwal, and resume work on the 4th of Shawwal, official news agency WAM reported.

In accordance with the lunar month of Shawwal, if Ramadan concludes on the 29th day, offices will re-open on Sunday, August 11 and if Ramadan extends to 30 days, work will resume on Monday, August 12.

The information was released in a circular issued by Humaid bin Mohammed Obaid Al Qattami, Minister of Education and chairman of the Federal Government Human Resources Authority.

Private sector holidays in the UAE have not yet been announced.
