Dubai hotel group Jumeirah has signed a management agreement with Abu Dhabi United Hospitality LLC for a new property in the desert outside the UAE capital.

Jumeirah Al Wathba Desert Resort will be spread across 20,000 square metres in the Al Wathba District desert 50km southeast of Abu Dhabi.

It will feature 90 rooms and 13 villas and have an all-day dining restaurant, rooftop bar, spa, conference area and meeting facilities, as well as an offsite desert camp.

The property is due to open in September.

“Jumeirah Al Wathba Desert Resort will be the 12th luxury Jumeirah hotel in the UAE and this innovative project offers Jumeirah a wonderful opportunity to showcase our truly Arabian hospitality,” said Jumeirah chief operating officer Marc Dardenne.

“We are confident the Resort will be an outstanding destination and will further boost tourism in the emirate.”

Jumeirah has 20 luxury hotels and 18 in the pipeline under its main brand and a further five in the pipeline for its newly-announced Zabeel House brand.
