Dubai’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has released a book to commemorate the centennial of UAE founding father Sheikh Zayed’s birth.

The book, Zayed: Life of a Great Leader, recounts Sheikh Zayed’s life and the many facets of his personality from his early days in Al Ain to the forging of a vision that guides the country to this day.

The bilingual edition, published by Motivate Books comes in English and Arabic and features rare historical and contemporary photographs that celebrate the great leader.

“We are delighted to launch this book to celebrate the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed, the UAE’s Founding Father and the visionary who placed the country on the path of economic prosperity and sustainable community development,” said Dubai Chamber chairman Majid Saif Al Ghurair.

“We see this book as one of the best ways to mark the Year of Zayed, as it looks back on the remarkable life he lived, as well as the many great achievements he made as a statesman, diplomat, leader and visionary.”

Motivate Publishing managing partner Ian Fairservice said the book was an important addition to the literature on UAE history.

“We are proud to have published this book to coincide with the centenary of his birth and to commemorate 2018 Year of Zayed. We are also honoured to partner with Dubai Chamber to publish such an important story of the beloved leader,” he said.

To commemorate Sheikh Zayed’s birth, UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Sautrday ordered the payment of one month’s salary to all serving and retired government employees, citizens and military personnel.

A total of Dhs1.6bn ($435.5m) has been allocated for the payments.
