Dubai-based luxury marketplace The List raises $1.7m

The round was backed by local and international venture capital firms

Dubai-based luxury online marketplace The List has raised $1.7m in a seed funding round.

The company said the group included local and international venture capital firms and it would use the sum to invest in technology and build a mobile platform.

This will begin with an Apple (iOS) offering in 2018.

The List connects boutiques in Paris, London, Milan, New York and Tokyo with customers in the Middle East and is designed to provide access to products that are more expensive or not yet available in the region.

Retailers on the platform work with brands such as Gucci, Balenciaga, Saint Laurent, Rolex, Cartier, Vetements, Off-White, Gosha Rubchinskiy, Yeezy and Fear of God, according to the announcement.

The company, which was founded in March 2016 by entrepreneur Andreas Skorski, handles payment, logistics and shipping for orders to 190 countries.
