U.S.-based International franchise company Bajco Group has signed a deal with Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway to bring the Dairy Queen fast food brand back to the UAE.

Under the long-term multi-unit deal, Badco will develop both Dairy Queen Grill & Chill restaurants, offering burger and chicken options, and Treat Stores, offering ice cream and desserts, across the country.

“We are looking forward to expanding our global reach in the Middle East region and are excited about the opportunity to re-introduce the Dairy Queen brand to the United Arab Emirates,” said Jean Champagne, COO International Groups, Dairy Queen. “Bajco Group brings extensive QSR experience and a strong, successful background in multi-unit restaurant development. We know they are the right franchisee to help us increase our world-wide brand presence.”

The first Dairy Queen Treat store is expected in early 2015, while the first Grill & Chill restaurant will follow by Q2 2015.

The location for the first outlets was not disclosed.

“Dairy Queen is a brand that built a strong presence and preference across the U.S. and Canada. We are thrilled to be able to bring brand, its service and offering to the United Arab Emirates. We aim to always provide the best service and quality to diners and are positive that the outlet will be well-received by the people,” said Malik Bajwa, president, Bajco Group.

The UAE is the 28th country outside the US and Canada able to expand the Dairy Queen brand, which has outlets across more than 6,300 locations.
