Abu Dhabi police say they are on the look-out for a person suspected of fatally stabbing an American woman in a ladies toilet at the Boutik Mall on Reem Island on Monday, local media reported.
The victim was a 37-year-old school teacher, confirmed Colonel Rashid Mohammad Borshid, head of CID, Abu Dhabi Police.
She was allegedly stabbed with a sharp tool, following an argument in the toilet and was rushed to Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, but could not be rescued.
The tool has been confiscated by police and they are currently investigating the reasons for the attack, he said.
He added that efforts are also on to find out the suspect’s identity and gender.
Photos released by the police show that the suspect is wearing an abaya, black gloves and a niqab.
Colonel Bourscheid also confirmed that the victim’s 11-year-old twins are being taken care of by community police pending the arrival of their father, the victim’s ex-husband, from abroad.
