Gulf Business

Accor has announced two more Adagio Aparthotels in Saudi Arabia, which are due to open in 2017.

The 200-unit Adagio Aparthotel Jeddah Alesayi Plaza and 150-unit Adagio Aparthotel Riyadh Dhabab will be developed next to upcoming ibis hotels. The properties will contain studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments with fully equipped kitchens and Accor signed the management agreements with the Alesayi Group.

The Adagio Aparthotel brand, which targets the region’s growing demand for medium and long-term stays, is well established in Europe where there are more than 10,000 apartments in Paris, Berlin, Munich, Rome, Vienna and Monaco (Adagio Access Saint-Louis Bâle pictured).

The extended stay sector is taking off in the Gulf, serving relocating expats and visiting executives on contracts.

Both properties will house a breakfast room, fitness centre and small meeting rooms and share the ibis café corner. Adagio properties offer a 24/7 reception desk, lobby café and breakfast lounge, gym, dry cleaning services, space reserved for meetings, as well as a small shop carrying essentials and basic groceries.

Accor has seven properties in its Adagio Aparthotel portfolio in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar, five of which are under development and one in operation, the Adagio Aparthotel Fujairah Town Centre. The Adagio Aparthotel Abu Dhabi Al Bustan is set to open in June 2014.

The Adagio Aparthotel Jeddah Al Malik Road, which is close to the Corniche and features 77 units, is also being developed in cluster with an ibis hotel, which will have 180 rooms, and is expected to open in 2016.
