UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s health is “fine”, official news agency WAM quoted Abu Dhabi Crown Prince General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as saying on Monday.

Sheikh Mohamed, who is also deputy supreme commander of the UAE’s Armed Forces, emphasised that news on social media sites about the President’s health were “mere rumours” and that Sheikh Khalifa is fine.

He also urged people to validate information before sharing it and to be cautious when transferring news “in order to use modern technology and social networking sites for the benefit of our society and country,” WAM reported.

In January this year, Sheikh Khalifa underwent a surgery after suffering a stroke. Officials later confirmed that he was in stable condition.

Born in 1948, Sheikh Khalifa has headed the UAE since the death of his father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan, in 2004.
